Membership vs. Participating in the SWE Community

As a student organization with goals of promoting inclusivity and representation for women and non-binary folx at the University of Washington, we welcome both members and non-members into our community.

So, what are the perks of paying for a membership?

As a non-paying participant, you can join SWE@UW events and social media, but as a paying member you also have many additional perks, including, but not limited to access to mentorship programs, scholarships, recruiting resources, and discounts.

 

Start a membership

1. Go to swe.org. Select the Login button or Join SWE Today! on the home page.

2. Create your account.

  • This will lead you to a sign-up page to fill in your information.

  • Remember to use your @uw.edu email.

  • Select Undergraduate/Graduate Member under Special Pricing.

3. Click Create Account. This will redirect you to your new account page.

4. Select Join SWE Here on the top menu bar. Fill in your information and note the following:

  • Under University, choose “Washington, University of”

  • In DISCIPLINE:

    • For undeclared engineering students (ENGRUD), choose “Other Engineering.”

    • For HCDE students, choose “Other Engineering.”

    • For students in Informatics or any major not listed, choose “Other Technical.”

4. Save your information and select your membership:

New Collegiate membership: $20/year

Must be renewed annually

College to Career (C2C): $50 one-time payment (Recommended)

This membership is a one-time payment for your entire college career (including grad school) and one year post-graduation.

Must be renewed annually at no charge.

 

5. Add membership to cart and finish payment.

6. Save profile. You're all set!

 

If you are financially unable to pay for membership, please reach out to swe@uw.edu. SWE UW has scholarships to help you become and stay a member.

 

Renew membership

1. Go to swe.org. At the top of the page, select Login.

2. Log in to your SWE account.

3. Select SWE Membership Renewal in the main menu.

4. Add membership to cart and finish payment. If you're a C2C member, no payment necessary!

5. Once you renewed your membership, go back to the main menu and make your Educational Profile is up-to-date:

  • In University, you have “Washington, University of”

  • In DISCIPLINE:

    • For undeclared engineering students (ENGRUD), choose “Other Engineering.”

    • For HCDE students, choose “Other Engineering.”

    • For students in Informatics or any major not listed, choose “Other Technical.”

6. Save profile. You're all set!
